Web Design Agencies in Istanbul and the Turkish Alphabet

The Typographic Trap Every Site in Istanbul Has to Avoid

Start with the detail that separates a studio which has designed Turkish interfaces from one that has not. Turkish has a dotted and a dotless i, as separate letters, in both cases. Change the case of a word without telling the browser the text is Turkish and the lowercase dotted i becomes the wrong capital, while the capital dotted I becomes the wrong lowercase. The result is a brand name misspelled in your own navigation, and it appears wherever a design calls for uppercase menu items, capitalised buttons or small-caps headings.

This is a design decision disguised as an engineering bug. If the layout leans on uppercase styling, the specification has to say so, the language has to be declared on the element, and the proof has to be checked with words that contain the letter. The safer route, which many local studios take deliberately, is to set navigation and buttons in their natural case and get emphasis from weight and colour instead.

Glyph coverage is the companion problem. A typeface chosen from a Latin preview may lack the letters with a cedilla or a breve, and the fallback is invisible until real copy arrives. Ask for a proof sheet with full Turkish text in every weight the design uses, and confirm that the webfont licence covers the extended range.

Agglutination Makes Strings Longer Than the Component

Turkish builds meaning by stacking suffixes onto a root, which produces single words long enough to break a narrow button, a tab or a table header. Foreign templates sized for short English labels fail here in a very specific way: the word does not wrap, because it is one word, so it either overflows or shrinks the rest of the row.

Designers who work in the language set minimum widths from the longest realistic label rather than the shortest, avoid two-line assumptions in menus, and treat form labels and validation messages as design objects with their own space. Sentence structure differs too, with the verb landing at the end, so a heading translated phrase by phrase often puts the emphasis in the wrong place. Microcopy should be written alongside the layout rather than poured into a finished screen.

The Instalment Table Is a Core Interface Component

Card payment culture here is built on instalments, and the plan on offer changes by issuing bank. That produces a component foreign designs never include: a panel that detects the card, then shows the plans available for that bank, with the monthly amount and the total, and a clear state for when the card supports none. Shoppers compare those plans before they compare your product.

The same logic reaches further up the funnel. Product cards need room for a monthly figure alongside the total, campaign banners often lead with the instalment rather than the price, and a design that leaves no space for it forces the developer to improvise at the end. Draw it once, properly, as part of the component library.

Checkout continues with its own local set: a delivery firm choice, a pickup point option, and an invoice section that switches between individual and corporate, revealing tax office and tax number fields for companies. Design the switch so it keeps what the visitor already typed.

Consent Fields Turkish Sites Are Expected to Show

Data protection law requires an explicit, legible consent flow, and marketing permission for messaging is registered centrally, which in practice means a form carries more than a single checkbox: a clarification text that must be readable rather than buried, a separate and unticked permission for commercial messages, and often a channel choice between email, text and calls.

These are design problems. Stacked unstyled checkboxes at the bottom of a form depress completion and look untrustworthy, while a well-composed consent block, with the long text behind a considered disclosure pattern and the permissions clearly separate from the submit action, does neither. Ask a candidate studio to show how they have handled it, because almost every domestic project has forced them to solve it at least once.

Addresses, Contact and the Shape of a Local Form

An address is a dependent chain of province, district and neighbourhood, with a street and building line after it, and delivery quality depends on that structure being respected. A single free-text box looks cleaner and produces failed deliveries. National identity numbers appear on some flows, company fields on others, and phone numbers carry an area code people expect to type as its own group.

Contact patterns are equally distinct. A messaging entry point often outperforms a form, and it has to be designed into the layout rather than dropped on top of it, with a defined place among the cookie notice, the sticky purchase bar and the cart drawer on small screens. If the real conversion is a conversation, the form should be short and the handoff explicit.

A Campaign Calendar That Moves and a Market That Reprices

The fasting month and the two religious holidays move against the solar calendar, so campaign windows cannot be pinned to fixed dates, and traffic shifts to late evening during the fasting period. The late-year discount season, back to school and national days add further variants, and price changes are frequent enough that a design has to handle old and new prices, discount badges and short-lived campaign skins without a rebuild.

Deliver this as a theme layer in the component system, with tokens for the campaign palette, rules for which components accept a seasonal treatment and a documented way to switch it off. Ask to see a client that went through a season change and who performed the switch.

Buying Design Work From Istanbul as a Foreign Client

Many studios here work for European clients as well as domestic ones, and the cost difference is significant while the craft at the upper end is not. The risks are the ordinary ones of remote design work rather than anything exotic. Agree the currency of account and hold it steady, because local inflation has made long fixed-price contracts uncomfortable for suppliers and they will price that risk in if the currency is unclear.

Ask who drew the work you liked and whether that person is assigned to you. Ask for the working file with named components and tokens rather than flat exports. Keep the design tool workspace in your company name, take assignment of rights covering employees and freelancers alike, and buy the font licence in your own name. Then commission one real template as a paid trial, with responsive rules and empty, loading and error states included, before committing to the full site.

You can compare verified studios and client feedback across all markets covered on Edvido, look at commerce specialists when the project is a storefront rather than a brand site, and put one brief in front of a shortlist in Istanbul to see how the scopes compare.
